A hugely popular airshow attracting visitors from all over the world is preparing to head North for the very first time this summer and will be touching down at Leeds East Airport/Church Fenton on Saturday and Sunday, July 15 and 16.

Flying Legends organiser Jane Larcombe said that Church Fenton was an ideal location to stage this premier aviation event. In its 30th year, Flying Legends will be presenting unrivalled choreographed flying displays from a variety of WWII aircraft, including examples that were once based at this important ex-RAF base in those bygone days.

Church Fenton was home to the very first Eagle Squadron initially flying the Brewster Buffalo and latterly flying the Hawker Hurricane and Mk1 Spitfire and in 2023 it will proudly present a tribute to those brave men and women flying a Mk1 Hurricane, Mk1 Spitfire and a Gloster Gladiator together over the skies of Yorkshire once again.

Previously held at Duxford in Cambridgeshire, it has been apparent for some time to the Flying Legends team that this event attracted many visitors from the North of the UK, but itself was poorly supported with a lack of significant aviation events.
