Matt Baker became a household name after landing a co-presenting jog on The One Show in 2011. And while for many it would be considered a dream job, it seems almost a decade was enough for the TV star as he called it quits in 2020.The news came as a shock to fans of the show, but it seems Matt was considering moving on from the high-profile role for a while as he had an exciting new career path in mind.

His revelations came to light while he was speaking to Gabby Logan on her popular The Mid Point podcast recently. The 46 year old said: "You think to yourself, 'I'm doing this chat show at seven o'clock on BBC One, does the goal then become, I'm just going to do this forever?

What is the point of continuing with something that you've done for nine years?' And then I thought, 'I'm just going to [leave].

I'm just going to go because if I don't, I will probably be here forever.'" The father of two told how he had a passion for producing and directing and decided to set up his own company, Big Circus Media, which he co-owns with former The One Show executive Gareth Collett. The company is behind his new show Baker's Britain which is set to launch on Channel 4 soon. The four-part series will see him travel the country and dive into rural communities in the UK, meeting interesting people along the way.
