While croissants are typically looked upon as a French staple, the people of the UK are also massive fans of the flaky pastry.
Many enjoy this buttery treat with some jam - or even more butter - and a tea or coffee in the mornings. However, etiquette expert William Hanson has said we're eating them all wrong, reports the Mirror.
The expert noted in a recent Instagram video on @williamhansonetiquette that the first thing people are doing wrong is dipping them into their hot drink.William, author of The Buffer's Guide to Etiquette, said: "When you're enjoying a croissant, probably at breakfast, statistically, you don't dip the croissant into the coffee."But it's not just dunking that many people are doing wrong, with William critiquing people for what they put on their croissants - and even how they cut them open.The expert added: "Similarly, you don't actually use butter on a croissant.
It is already buttered. It's an all-butter croissant. You don't need to add extra butter."With any bread or bi-product of bread, we're not going to use a knife to cut it, so you don't need your knife to cut.
