A man who robbed a delivery food driver at knifepoint and threatened to kill him has been jailed. Rui Lucas, 41, pulled a knife on a man delivering food on his electric bike on Wilmslow Road, Rusholme, in July last year, in what police called a 'traumatic experience' for the victim.

A woman tried to stop Lucas from hitting the victim and pleaded with him to leave the bike, which was worth over £400. But Lucas refused to stop, telling the woman “I will kill him” as he snatched his bicycle. Police Constable Ross Smith of GMP’s Longsight Neighbourhood Crime Team, said: “I’d like to thank the victim for supporting this case, it must have been a very traumatic experience to encounter Rui Lucas like this. “Our commitment to ensuring the streets of Greater Manchester are kept safe continues, and no one should go about their day-to-day life feeling fearful or like they may be at risk of criminal behaviour." Lucas, of no fixed abode, was sentenced on Thursday (August 31) to four years and three months in prison after he was found guilty of robbery.
