Man caught with knife in East Kilbride just three days after he was arrested

A serial offender was caught carrying a knife just three days after he was arrested in possession of scissors.A sheriff told James Whiteley his behaviour after being given bail “beggars belief”.

Whiteley, 52, was jailed for 16 months at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week. The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Whiteley also admitted carrying a knife in Westwood Road, East Kilbride, on September 17. On each occasion he was on bail.Referring to the first incident, John Coogan, prosecuting, said police officers spoke to Whiteley about another matter at 5.25pm near the shopping centre.He was seen to remove an item from his person which he dropped into a doorway.
