Elderly outreach group receives £1000 donation to tackle social isolation

A Lanarkshire elderly outreach group has received a £1000 donation from a local home builder to tackle social isolation within the community.The Lesmahagow Community Fairies - a group of local residents who carry out outreach work with over-75s within the community - were awarded the large sum from Persimmon Homes West Scotland for being one of their Scottish Community Champions.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

The group was set up in 2021 and has since carried out countless Christmas, birthday and Easter visits to deliver a gift and also spend some much-needed time with the residents.Persimmon’s Community Champions scheme supports good causes in areas where the company builds new homes, and has seen over £1.5m donated to local charities, clubs and organisations across the UK since 2021.
