Dumbarton keeper Brett Long says he’s raring to go for another crack at League One, after seven months on the sidelines.The Northern Irishman broke his ankle in December, leaving him stuck on the sidelines as a frustrated supporter, kicking every ball as the Sons won promotion back to the third tier.Long returned to action last month, saving a penalty 10 minutes into his first game back, and says he now appreciates football all the more.Brett told the Lennox: “Getting promotion was good and getting back in has been tough.
But great.“It was good for the team and I was still involved to an extent. But it is hard to watch where you can’t impact anything or do anything from the stand.
I did find that frustrating.“The rehab is horrendous. It’s so frustrating. Some days you wake up and feel brilliant, but on others you wake up and feel like you’re getting absolutely nowhere.“There are times where it’s quite lonely and tough.
The boys are training and you’re going up to training to do the same repetitive stuff.It’s my first serious injury. Throughout my part-time career I’ve never really been injured, and it was so hard.
