Owners of a deli van in Liverpool are being backed by locals after being forced to pay £6,000 or leave their spot during the Eurovision song contest.

After Liverpool was announced as the city that would play host to the annual singing contest in May, street traders Patsy Murphy and Rebecca Molloy received a letter from Liverpool City Council.

The ECHO reported how the letter addressed to Patsy said that to continue trading in their prime waterfront spot on Pier Head for nine days leading up to the final of the song contest, they will be charged £6,000.

This is because the location of their deli van falls within the Eurovision Village and the council has temporarily suspended all existing street trading licenses in the area.
