Bright and 'well thought of' teenager, 16, dies after being found unresponsive at home by friend

It cannot be determined if a much-loved teenager who died after being found unresponsive at home intended to take his own life, a coroner has ruled.

McKenzie Robertshaw, 16, from Wigan, was discovered by a friend in the bedroom of the house he shared with his father on the evening of Saturday, December 3 last year.

Paramedics were scrambled with life-saving attempts continuing as he was transferred to the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary. READ MORE: Join the FREE Manchester Evening News WhatsApp community However he was pronounced dead there by doctors in the early hours of Sunday, December 4.

A post-mortem concluded he died as a result of hanging. However, a coroner recorded a narrative conclusion saying his intentions were 'unclear.' The inquest into McKenzie's death at Bolton Coroner's Court heard he was a bright student who got 'great grades' and who was 'very highly thought of' at school.
