Buyers estimate that CBS could have sold at least 70% of its available inventory, and potentially more. To be sure, some chunk of that projection would come from advertisers who have multi-year sponsorship deals to support the event, but notching such a level of sell-out in July is more robust than typical.

It is the latest suit from a series of parties who allege Fox News deliberately and with malice broadcast incorrect and damaging accounts about them. Fox Corp., the outlet’s parent, recently paid out $787.5 million to voting-technology firm Dominion Voting Systems over allegations that Fox News deliberately implicated the company in false allegations about the security of the 2020 presidential election, and paid $12 million to a former Fox News producer who alleged she had been hectored into providing false testimony in that matter.

Rebecca Rubin Film and Media Reporter Candice McDonough has been appointed to the newly created role of executive VP of publicity and communications for DC Studios. In the new position, she will oversee media relations, publicity, as well as external and employee communications. McDonough is moving from parent company Warner Bros. The chairman and CEO of HBO and Max content was celebrating his outlet(s)’ 127 Emmy nominations — not a record for the company, but nonetheless marking a dominant year. Whereas the HBO vs. Netflix horse race has been a headline in past Emmy years, it wasn’t much of a contest this year, as Bloys’ team outplayed the competition by 24 nods (with Netflix picking up a still-impressive 103). According to HBO, it was the 21st time that HBO had led the Emmy nomination tally. That haul included 27 nominations for outgoing drama “Succession,” which landed three nominations in the lead drama actor category (a first). And in picking up four drama nominations (which also included “The Last of Us,” “The White Lotus” and “House of the Dragon”), HBO pulled off something that had only been done twice before, by CBS in 1973 and NBC in 1992.

BreAnna Bell “All American,” The CW’s lone homegrown series originally set for the fall has been moved to midseason. The network confirmed the move on Wednesday after announcing premiere dates for the rest of its fall schedule. Also being pushed to midseason is “61st Street” and the “I am” documentary film franchise. The drama was first renewed for Season 6 in January and was originally slated to air on Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT, leading into the acquired drama series “61st Street.” In May, the network revealed that “Walker,” which was previously renewed for an abbreviated fourth season, was also being held for midseason. It’s safe to say the move was likely another casualty of the ongoing writers’ strike, which has pushed networks like ABC to delay all of its primetime scripted series. However, with the other unscripted and acquired programming, the network has managed to pad itself somewhat from the other effects of the strike.

Every now and then the Emmys will surprise us just by having a surprise. Too often the same people from the same shows turn up year after year, and with the 75th Emmy Awards that is certainly the case, but also this year my fellow Emmy voters (Full Disclosure: I am a longtime member and former Governor of the Writers branch) proved they could cut through the clutter and the imposing mountain of content to make way for some newbies and deserving shows that might have been hard to find.
