Albanian drug "gardener" jailed after being caught producing cannabis at Erskine home

An Albanian man has been jailed for over two years after being caught farming a Class B drug. Cops raided the five-bedroom townhouse in Erskine, where Klevis Vata was working as a ‘gardener’ on February 9, and discovered 820 cannabis plants of a “substantial height” spread across four rooms.

Experts valued the plants found at the Pennan property to be worth around £164,000. Also found within the 24-year-old’s home was drug paraphernalia including heat lamps and a small quantity of cash.

At Paisley Sheriff Court, Vata pleaded guilty to producing cannabis, a Class B drug. Sheriff Gillian Craig slammed Vata’s involvement as “significant and sophisticated” as she jailed him for over two years.Procurator fiscal depute Michael Cunningham previously told the court Vata was arrested following the search and that he had been on remand since February 10.Mr Cunningham explained: “Around 8.25am on February 9, officers attended at the property with a search warrant and forced entry.
