ABC has decided to not renew The Wonder Years for another season. The series, which was a reimagined look at the popular 1990s series, has been cancelled after just two seasons, according to Deadline.
The most recent season aired over the summer, and unfortunately, it ranked as the lowest-rated and least watched ABC series.
The 1990s show ran for 6 seasons. Inspired by the beloved award-winning series of the same name, The Wonder Yearscentered on the Williams family during the late 1960s, “spotlighting the ups and downs of growing up in a Black middle-class family in Montgomery, Alabama, and the friendship, laughter and lessons along the way.” Elisha “EJ” Williams, Dule Hill, Saycon Sengbloh and Laura Kariuki stared in the series, narrated by Don Cheadle.
Original series star Fred Savage had served as an EP on the series, but was let go following allegations of assault.
