Jay Slater's family are reportedly planning to bring him back to the UK in the next 48 hours - with their fundraising campaign exceeded £70,000.

Debbie Duncan, 55, Jay's grief-stricken mother, spoke of her gratitude earlier to all those who have shown kindness and support earlier this week.

She appealed for further donations to cover funeral expenses and the cost of bringing her son's body back to the UK. Jay's loved ones are preparing to make 'the hardest journey of their lives' over the next few days, reports The Sun, and are planning to use the money to give the teenager 'the send-off he deserves'. On the GoFundMe page, his heartbroken mum wrote: "Hello everyone, thank you for all of your kindness, support and condolences in light of the tragic news that Jay's body has been found. "We are overwhelmed with grief and are so grateful for your support." Debbie added: "We are working with agencies to arrange Jay's repatriation to the UK and the remaining funds, along with any future donations will be used to help with this if needed and to pay for Jay's funeral costs back home." "We want to give our boy the send-off he deserves so please do continue to share and support our fundraiser however you can." The family has faced online harassment following the appeal, prompting the head of the charity to support the bereaved family, condemning 'keyboard warriors' who have criticised them for seeking additional funds.
