But now it's been reported the couple, who had been together for six years, have decided to part ways, according to a source speaking to MailOnline. "Chris and Dakota have tried desperately hard over the past few months to make their relationship work," the insider revealed.
They added: "They'll always have love for each other but they've both come to the conclusion the relationship cannot be sustained long-term. "They wanted it to work but it just hasn't, and they've now accepted it is best to move on." Earlier this year, there were whispers of an engagement when Dakota referred to Chris's children with ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow as her "step children".
The Fifty Shades of Grey star declared that she loves Chris' kids "like her life depends on it." She said: "I love those kids like my life depends on it.
