Three male youths have been taken to hospital after having an unknown substance thrown in their faces. Police and paramedics attended Longsands Beach in Tynemouth at around 9.30pm on Friday night.
Officers had been told that a large number youths were engaging in disorder, the ChronicleLive reports. When officers arrived, they discovered three males had had an unknown substance thrown in their faces. The disorder is understood to have occurred near to Crusoe's restaurant, which is located on the beach. All three males were taken to hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.
The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) attended the scene after receiving a report of an alleged assault. A spokesperson said: "We received several calls around 21.30 yesterday (16 JUNE) to reports of an alleged assault on Longsands in Tynemouth. "We dispatched a paramedic ambulance, a clinical team leader and a Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) crew.
