Thousands reply to Lanarkshire school holiday consultation

More than 9000 people responded to a consultation over potential changes to North Lanarkshire’s school holiday arrangements – at one point crashing the online system with the volume of replies.

The council sought opinions on a proposal to lengthen the October break to a fortnight or to increase the Christmas and February holidays, with either being accommodated by reducing the summer break to six weeks and starting school earlier in August.

Education committee members will make a decision on the future shape of the school calendar in September, but any changes determined would not take effect for at least another two years.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
