An official movie adaptation of The Sims is set to hit the screens, with Electronic Arts and Amazon MGM Studios collaborating to bring the iconic game to life.
The project was officially unveiled on Tuesday (September 17).Hollywood star Margot Robbie, alongside her husband Tom Ackerley, will be producing the film through their LuckyChap Entertainment company, while director Kate Herron, known for her work on Loki and Sex Education, is set to direct.Kate Gorman, EA's vice president and general manager of The Sims franchise, assured fans of a "truly authentic" cinematic experience.
In a conversation with Variety, she expressed: "We wanted the right partners and to make an impact the size of something like a 'Barbie' movie is exactly what we want."She added: "And we know there's so much love and nostalgia, probably beyond what we would even realize, for The Sims and so many people like us have played throughout generations.
So we want this to be an experience that reflects all that amazing history and play of so many people in this world, but also is something that you can share across generations and to be part of pop culture and culturally relevant." Fans are eager to learn more about the fate of Bella Goth, a character shrouded in mystery.
