A supermarket that was accused of 'taking the mick' out of shoppers with constant price hikes is now second cheapest behind Lidl.
We've been tracking the cost of the same eight essentials at the six main supermarkets for a year now - and for the majority of that time, it's been Morrisons taking the unfortunate title of 'most expensive'.
Following weeks of continuous price hikes last summer, it was accused of 'laughing at customers', who claimed its prices were rising more than anywhere else. Read more: 'Bye bye Tesco' - Shoppers fume as supermarket makes big change to home deliveries Even in January the retailer was still charging the most for the shopping basket, which includes a two-pint bottle of milk, a loaf of bread, a pack of chicken breasts, a pack of mince, tea bags, coffee, beans and butter.
But this week that's all changed - with Morrisons taking over from Aldi as the second cheapest supermarket behind Lidl. While its mince has risen from £2.39 to £2.49, in line with the other supermarkets, the change is largely due to it reducing the cost of its chicken breasts down from £2.59 to £2.25.
