The Scottish FA and SPFL have urged fans to avoid the use of pyro at this weekend's Viaplay Cup matches.A large amount of flares lit by Rangers fans away at Dundee on Wednesday further delayed the game at Dens Park after fire alarms were set off.
That's sparked concern ahead of Hibs facing Aberdeen and Hearts clashing with the Light Blues over the weekend for two places in the first showpiece of this season. Record Sport revealed on Thursday that Police Scotland demanded the discussions with SPFL chiefs after the chaotic scenes in Dundee.
And now a joint statement from the league body alongside the SFA insists all four clubs have been addressed after the issue.
It reads: "Ahead of this weekend’s Viaplay Cup semi-finals at Hampden Park, the Scottish FA and Scottish Professional Football League call on supporters to enjoy the showpiece occasions in a safe and responsible manner. "Given the increased focus on the use of pyrotechnics, we appeal to fans of all four participating clubs to enjoy the matchday experience at the National Stadium but to do so in a manner that does not endanger the safety of their fellow supporters, or that has the potential to disrupt the matches themselves."The use of pyrotechnics is illegal.
