North and South Lanarkshire councils give funding boost to Samaritans charity

Participants at a special suicide prevention football tournament have raised £432 to support the work of the Samaritans Scotland charity.The cheque was present by North Lanarkshire Provost Kenneth Duffy on behalf of North and South Lanarkshire councils' suicide prevention campaigns.Provost Duffy explained: “We were delighted to donate the funds raised by the tournament players to such a vital cause.

Samaritans Scotland provide a crucial service to vulnerable people, and we are grateful for everyone’s support in this charity fundraiser, and are always there to help those who need it most.“We are looking forward to organising the tournament again for next year, and we are extremely grateful to everyone who has played a role in supporting our mission to tackle suicide in our communities.”The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
