A schoolboy collapsed and died after eating berries during a walk with his dad. Benn Curran-Nicholls, 14, was tragically poisoned after ingesting leaves and berries from a yew tree in Fletcher Moss Park in Manchester.
An inquest into the teen's death heard how he enjoyed climbing the tree during his walks with his father, who was unaware of the risks.
After returning home from a walk in September last year, Benn, who had autism, "slumped" at his home before his eyes "started to roll around his head", reports the Manchester Evening News.
The boy was rushed to Royal Manchester Children's Hospital but despite the efforts of mercy crews, he tragically died. A post-mortem concluded Benn suffered "refractory cardiogenic shock".Coroner Andrew Bridgman has now issued a report about the dangers of eating yew tree berries.
