The late Queen Elizabeth and her husband Prince Philip's bond deepened during the coronavirus lockdown - but they also found themselves bickering, a royal insider has claimed. The pair developed a rapport reminiscent of any long-married couple, although the Queen wasn't shy to remind him that she was no ordinary woman.
On one occasion, Philip was overheard telling his wife of 73 years "Oh, do shut up, you silly woman", the unnamed palace aide claims.
Our beloved monarch allegedly responded quite firmly with: "I am not a silly woman, I am the Queen." Throughout the pandemic's first wave, the couple holed up at Windsor Castle, surrounded by a bubble of 20 staff members. The close-knit team earned the nickname HMS Bubble.
It was within this unique scenario that the duke would wrap his arm around his queen, bridging a closeness unseen in years, according to the Daily Mail. The palace aide said they were called to step in to wait on the royal couple due to staff shortages brought about by Covid-19 restrictions.
