Police make surprise discovery after being called for a welfare check

Police discovered a cannabis farm inside a property after being called for a welfare check in east Manchester. Officers made the surprise discovery at a property on Dulgar Street in Openshaw at around 9.20am on Saturday (July 27) after concerns for welfare were reported.

Greater Manchester Police officers entered the address were they found a cannabis farm. It's believed a scene is still in place while the farm is dismantled and investigations are carried out. No arrests have been made at this stage and further enquiries are currently being carried out, a spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said.

In a statement, the force added: "At 9:20am this morning we attended a property on Dulgar Street in Openshaw after concerns for welfare were reported.
