Man in his 20s rushed to hospital after being 'slashed' in Middleton as two arrested

A man has been taken to hospital after being 'slashed' in a busy town centre. Two men, aged 20 and 26, have been arrested on suspicion of assault after a 20-year-old man was attacked in Middleton town centre (August 10).

The man suffered a 'slashing injury', which has required stitches, the Manchester Evening News understands. A group of people began an altercation outside a shop in Middleton town centre around 30 minutes before police were called to reports of an assault at 8.52am.

The two men arrested remain in police custody. "I saw them run past but I've no idea where they were running to," she said. "I think there were five of them, going just past the shop.

Five in full uniform, absolutely gunning past, they were going somewhere fast." Other shop staff told the M.E.N. they had arrived for work later in the morning, when police had already left the scene.
