Police were forced to clear a group of youths from a reservoir where a young man tragically drowned just a few years ago. Officers were called out to Audenshaw Reservoir on Thursday afternoon (July 20) as they urged parents to warn children of the dangers of swimming in the water.

Dwayne Thompson, who was only 20, died in hospital after getting into trouble in the water at the same reservoir in June of 2018 after attending with friends during a heatwave. A coroner said his death was 'a tragic accident'. Amid warm temperatures on Thursday (July 20) of around 20C, police said officers had to return to the reservoir to 'clear' a group of youths from the site and warned of the dangers of swimming in reservoirs.

A public post shared by the force said: "Yet again officers have had to got to Audenshaw reservoir earlier today to clear a group of youths from the site.
