Multiple tennis courts in parks around Manchester set to be renovated for local communities

Tennis players around Manchester have reason to celebrate as courts across the region are set for a major revamp. Manchester City Council will be teaming up with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) to ensure people can continue to play tennis safely and adequately.

Manchester City Council and the LTA will invest in refurbishing In total nine park tennis venues with an investment of £483,095. ALSO READ: City fans name their player of the season The project is a component of a statewide initiative to renovate public tennis courts across Great Britain, funded by the UK Government and the LTA Tennis Foundation and carried out by the LTA.

This initiative will revitalize thousands of existing park tennis courts that are currently in poor or unusable condition. The renovated tennis courts are also expected to introduce improved court accessibility with new gate-access technology and booking systems.

The park venues being renovated are: Councillor John Hacking, Manchester City Council's Executive Member for Skills, Employment and Leisure said: "This partnership coincides with the news that Manchester will be welcoming the famous Davis Cup this September after winning a bid to host the competition earlier this year. "It's great that Manchester City Council and the LTA are going to refurbish and upgrade tennis venues in and around the city.
