Met Office verdict on warmer weather across UK next week after chilly start to June

After a chilly start to June, the weather may be a little brighter next week. Met Office forecasters predict that temperatures will rise next week bringing the mercury closer to 'near average'.

The comes after the UK experienced its coolest first 10 days of June since 2020 - which forecasters said was due to the jet stream dragging unsettled weather across the UK.

In Greater Manchester, average temperatures of around 17C to 18C are forecast over the coming days. Then on Thursday, temperatures will rise to a maximum of around 20C with sunny spells expected. Conditions next week are also set to be much drier with largely cloudy and sunny conditions predicted. On the overall outlook for the North West from Tuesday to Thursday, the Met Office said: "Largely dry with sunny spells on Tuesday and Wednesday, although a few well-scattered showers are possible.
