A fun activity to partake in over the winter is baking, which can be enjoyed solo or with friends and family - with recipes ranging from beginner to a more intermediate level.Baking guru Mary Berry has posted a classic recipe to her website, for some fluffy scones that only take 10 minutes to cook, with 12 minutes of preparation time.
The baking expert noted that the "secret" to making the perfect scone is by not letting the mixture get "too dry", and also "not to handle the dough too much".So, why don't you give this special scone recipe a go, either on your own or with other avid bakers?Read on below to find out more.Begin by preheating the oven to 220C and lightly grease a baking sheet with cooking spray.
Measure out the flour and baking powder into a bowl and add in the butter until the mixture looks like fine breadcrumbs.Stir in the sugar, then add the egg into a separate measuring jug, beat until frothy and add in milk until the mixture is 125ml in total.Stir most of the egg and milk into the flour, keeping one tablespoon in the jug to glaze the scones before baking.
Mix to a soft dough.Put this dough onto a floured surface, and knead lightly before rolling out to a half-inch thickness.
