'Choice to send Prince George to Kate's school over Eton is good for modern monarchy', says expert

Even though he won't bid Lambrook School in Windsor a farewell for another three years, attention has already turned to where Prince George will study when he turns 13.

While it was originally assumed by many that the second-in-line to the throne would follow in the well-trodden footsteps of his royal relatives and study at Eton College, it seems he could defy convention and attend his mother's former school, Marlborough College.The Wiltshire-based school served as the base for some of the Princess of Wales' most formative and happy years - and it was recently revealed that they welcomed Prince George for a look around.The young royal, who was previously pictured touring Eton in June, could continue his education at the school and could later be joined by his younger siblings as Marlborough is co-educational.This possible decision, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond notes, would be a very positive step.

Speaking exclusively to OK!, Jennie quipped "I think it would be excellent for the children to be kept together at the same school and Marlborough College offers exactly that. "William and Kate have worked hard to give the children a secure family upbringing… why split them up for their schooling?

It makes no sense to me. Personally I hope they won’t be sent to boarding school at all, but that’s very unlikely. "Kate was obviously very happy at Marlborough, she knows and understands its ethos and is clearly considering it for her children." Jennie adds: "The very fact that it is a live option tells us that Kate is in the driving seat for the upbringing of their children… and I am sure William will allow her to make the final call on where they go.
