United have long been in desperate need of a new striker but ultimately opted against a move for Kane this summer, who had entered the last year of his deal at Tottenham Hotspur, amid the pricetag and the feeling that Spurs would not want to sell to a Premier League rival.
Instead, United turned to Rasmus Hojlund in a £72million deal, with the club placing faith in the Dane for the long-term. Kane has now completed a £100million move to German champions Bayern Munich but United could be set to line up against the England captain in the Champions League READ: Manchester United are acting like a serious Premier League club in transfer market United have been placed in pot two for the Champions League draw, which will take place on August 31.
The Reds are alongside the likes of Arsenal, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in the second pot. But Bayern and Kane will be in pot one, meaning they could still be pitted against one another in a bid to go deep into Europe.
