Lucy Letby will face a retrial on an outstanding offence of attempted murder that jurors were unable to reach a verdict on. Letby, 33, was convicted of the murder of seven babies and the attempted murder of six others at the neonatal unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital in 2015 and 2016.

A provisional trial date was set for June 10 2024. Letby, who appeared over videolink from HMP Newhall, denied all the offences and formally lodged an appeal against her conviction at the Court of Appeal earlier this month.
