The victims of a rogue builder who carried out shoddy work after pocketing more than £30,000 said employing him was "one of the biggest mistakes in my life".

Drew Joyce, 31, of Bridgend, Wales, initially provided attractive quotes to his victims Sian Frowen and Grannia Doherty, who paid him to carry out work on their respective houses at the end of 2019.

Their dreams to renovate their homes turned to a nightmare after Joyce failed to turn up, made excuses and demanded more money - eventually leaving the properties uninhabitable.

At a hearing at Cardiff Crown Court prosecutors Ian Ibrahim said Joyce offered cut-price quotes 'to secure work' - but once 'deposits were paid work slowed down'.
