Streets cordoned off after emergency services pull body from water

A body was tragically pulled from a river in north Manchester.. Emergency services were called to the scene at Imperial Way in Crumpsall Vale, Blackley, on Sunday morning (October 1).

The Manchester Evening News understands the body of a person was pulled from the River Irk. A stretch of Crumpsall Vale and Imperial Way, near the Hexagon Tower, was taped off by police as emergency crews responded.

The person's death is not believed to be suspicious. They had taped off Imperial Way all the way round in front of the tower. "They told me they'd found a body in the water. It's just very very sad. "I know we have the river here but I've never heard of anything like this happening here before.
