Nearly 5,000 homes will be built in a forgotten corner of Manchester city centre - as part of a huge project to revitalise the area.

The project, Victoria North, will see a staggering 15,000 homes built over the next 20 years, which is expected to add 35,000 to the city’s population.

They start on the northernmost point of the city centre as it is now — Angel Meadow — and continue up towards Collyhurst. Now, as part of the project, developer the Far East Consortium (FEC) has submitted two planning applications to bring its ambition of the Red Bank neighbourhood to life.

Once complete, the projects will provide 4,800 homes, plus commercial and community facilities. READ MORE: Join the FREE Manchester Evening News WhatsApp community Spread over a 30-acre, largely brownfield site, Red Bank is one of seven neighbourhoods being regenerated as part of Victoria North.
