Police investigating gross negligence manslaughter after baby dies 24 hours after birth

A 'gross negligence manslaughter' probe has been launched following the death of a newborn baby. Polly Lindop died less than 24 hours after being born at Manchester's St Mary's Hospital on March 13.

Manchester Evening News reported that officers began investigating the death after concerns were raised to the coroner following the tot's death.

Greater Manchester Police have since confirmed that detectives from the Major Incident Team are probing possible Gross Negligence Manslaughter.Paying tribute to their daughter, Polly’s family said: ‘As Polly’s parents we would like to thank everyone at GMP for their continual efforts everyday in gaining us answers.
