DWP cost of living autumn payment date as millions to get £300 this month

Millions of people will start receiving their next cost of living payment this month. The Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) and Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) are paying out £900 in three separate installments throughout the 2023/24 financial year - with the first payment of £301 already made in Spring 2023.

The second payment, of £300, will start to be made from the end of October with a third payment then due early next year. Around eight million households will receive the payment with the DWP paying seven million households and HMRC around 830,000 more. Announcing the date of the second payment last month, Mel Stride, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, said: "The best way we can boost bank balances is by bearing down on inflation, but as we get there, we are ensuring the most vulnerable households are cushioned from high prices with a further Cost of Living payment. "Alongside this, thousands of Work Coaches across the country are helping find work, increase their hours and boost their skills.

I encourage anyone who wants to progress their career and strengthen their finances to visit their local Jobcentre to find out what help is available." Many of those who will receive the £300 cost of living payment will also be eligible for other financial support from the DWP including a disability cost of living payment, pensioner cost of living payment and winter fuel payment.
