Two Dumfriesshire Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Station Commanders have raised more than £1,200 for two worthy causes. Lucy Donaldson and Claire McNay took on the challenge of the 15k Moffat Run to raise funds and awareness for the Dumfries and Galloway Sands Support Group and The SFRS Family Support Trust.

The pair said it was seven years since they last pulled on their running shoes but a determination to do their best saw them through to the finish line.

Claire and Lucy said: “We would like to thank all the fantastic volunteers who made the run possible and marshalled the hill route on a chilly, windy night. “We would also like to thank everyone who has been kind enough to donate to our chosen charities of SFRS Family Support Trust and Dumfries and Galloway Sands and hope we have also helped raise awareness of the support available from both.” Both ladies also came away from the 15K Moffat Run with prizes, much to their “surprise and delight”.

The public can still donate to their online appeal at: www.peoplesfundraising.com/donation/sfrs-d-g-run-for-fst-and-d-g-sands.
