City dwellers can often have issues trying to find a parking space outside their drive. During especially busy periods, it can be frustrating having to Parklife Festival around to try and get a decent spot.For residents in the north of Manchester, one weekend every summer can be even more difficult.
During Parklife festival, which returns this weekend, music lovers descend on the city and often try to park as close to the site as possible.Locals can get residents' parking permits ahead of the event to ensure ticket wardens don't slap them with a fine.
But in 2022, a young electrician ended up with a whopping £424 fine for parking outside his own home, reports the Manchester Evening News.Reece Dawson had left his Ford Focus on Woodhill Grove in Prestwich during the festival, but while revellers were enjoying the music at nearby Heaton Park, a warden issued Reece with a ticket - despite being informed that he lived there.The family claim they received two permits and applied for more to cover all of their vehicles - but no more were forthcoming.
A month after the festival, Reece received a £70 fine, which could be halved if paid within a fortnight.He lodged an appeal with Bury council, but this was dismissed.
