Disney Recasts David Actor for 'Lilo & Stitch' Live-Action Remake After Racial Slur Controversy

Kahiau Machado, the actor who was previously announced to be playing David in the upcoming live-action remake of Disney’s Lilo & Stitch, has reportedly been replaced.

Newcomer Kaipot Dudoit will now be playing the role, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In the days following the news of Kahiau‘s casting, a controversy brewed that ultimately led to the role being recast. Keep reading to find out more… It was discovered by fans on social media that Kahiau had used a racial slur while making a playlist on his public Spotify account.

THR reports that Disney’s vetting process uncovered the use of the slur, which seemingly led to him being dropped from the project.
