Dad living out of suitcase after e-bike bought as surprise gift by friend bursts into flames and destroys home

David Bird, 50, had asked his friend, Dan Angus, 42, to take care of his kittens while they were away. Little did he know that the e-bike, purchased on Amazon, would burst into flames and cause extensive damage to his home in Coton Fields, Stafford.
The fire not only destroyed his belongings but also precious family keepsakes, including items that held sentimental value in memory of his late father and daughter, who died 13 years ago in a car accident.
David, who suffers from mobility problems due to a previous biking accident, was looking forward to a peaceful weekend in Wales with his children.
