An investigation has been launched after the body of a severely emaciated dog was found on a footpath in Clydebank. The grim discovery was made by a concerned member of the public near Cornock Street at around 4.30pm on Tuesday, January 31.The whippet cross lurcher, who was named Storm, had previously come to the attention of the Scottish SPCA but is understood to have been re-homed last year. The animal charity is now appealing for help to trace the three-year-old’s previous owners to determine how she came to be in such poor condition after leaving their care.Scottish SPCA inspector, Jennifer Connolly, said, “We initially received a call from a member of the public who discovered the dog’s body at around 4.30pm on 31 January.“We advised them to call the dog warden for uplift and that the warden will contact us if there are any suspicious circumstances around the animal’s death.“The dog warden brought the dog’s remains to us as the dog was very emaciated and in poor condition.

The dog is a female, tan, whippet cross lurcher who is three-years-old.“She was wearing a black collar. We have had dealings with this dog previously and her name at that time was Storm.

Unfortunately we have been unable to get in touch with Storm’s previous owner as the contact details we have for them are out of date.“We believe they rehomed the dog last year and we’d encourage them to come forward as they could help us piece together details of what happened to Storm since she left their care.“If anyone recognises this dog or has any information, we would ask that they contact our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.” Don't miss the latest news from around Scotland and beyond - Sign up to our daily newsletter here .
