Marilyn Manson sexual assault lawsuit filed by former assistant revived

Marilyn Manson‘s former assistant has been revived following a ruling by an appeals court. It comes after the case was originally dismissed last year when a judge ruled that Ashley Walters had waited too long to bring her case, ruling that such cases needed to be filed within two years of the alleged crimes.Walters’ initial suit against the vocalist, whose real name is Brian Warner, alleged sexual assault, sexual battery, sexual harassment, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, among other claims during the time she worked for him from 2010 to 2011. She had initially named Warner’s label, Marilyn Manson Records, Inc., as a co-defendant.Yesterday (December 13), a California’s Second Appellate District said Walters’ case was fair game under the so-called delayed discovery rule, as she claims the trauma of the incidents caused her to suppress the memories until 2020.“Until she received diagnosis and treatment, Walters [says she] was unable to remember the repressed events, and once she did recall them, she was unable to immediately identify these events as abuse,” according to the court [via Billboard].

Marilyn Manson has key parts of defamation case against Evan Rachel Wood dismissed by US judge
Marilyn Manson‘s defamation case against Evan Rachel Wood.Manson — real name Brian Warner — filed a defamation lawsuit against Westworld actor Wood back in March 2022 after she accused him of grooming, manipulation and “horrific abuse”.Part of the lawsuit claimed that Manson’s former fiancee Wood and Illma Gore — the latter of whom was described as Wood’s “on-again, off-again romantic partner” in the lawsuit — “secretly recruited, coordinated, and pressured prospective accusers to emerge simultaneously with allegations of rape and abuse against Warner”.Wood responded at the time that she was “not scared” of Manson’s defamation lawsuit, adding that “this is part of the retaliation that keeps survivors quiet”.Yesterday (May 9), Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Teresa A. Beaudet rejected Manson’s claims that Wood pressured “multiple women to make false accusations” against him and fabricated an FBI letter to back up her allegations (via Los Angeles Times).Beaudet also dismissed a section that alleged Wood and Gore used a checklist for other women to use to make claims of abuse. The court found that Manson had not “demonstrated a probability of prevailing on his claims based on alleged defamation against Wood”.“We are very pleased with the Court’s ruling, which affirms and protects Evan’s exercise of her fundamental First Amendment rights,” Wood’s lead attorney, Michael Kump, told Deadline.

LA District Attorney says police investigation into Marilyn Manson is yet to report
In something of an unusual move, the LA County District Attorney George Gascón has posted a video message to Instagram providing an update on the police investigation into the allegations of sexual abuse that have been made against Marilyn Manson. The LA County Sheriff’s Department first announced that its Special Victims Unit was looking into abuse allegations against Manson – real name Brian Warner – back in February 2021.The investigation began after actor Evan Rachel Wood confirmed that, when she had previously spoken about an abusive former partner, she was talking about her relationship with the musician. Other women then subsequently came forward also accusing Warner of abuse, some of whom then filed lawsuits in relation to their allegations. When an earlier allegation of abuse was made against Warner in LA County in 2018 – with the musician accused of having held a woman captive for two days in 2011 – the DA’s office decided not to pursue a case against him, stating that the statute of limitations had expired and that there was an “absence of corroboration”.But the reason that the DA’s office has not taken any action this time round, Gascón says, is simply because it is still waiting for the LA Country Sheriff’s Department to submit any report stemming from its investigation. In the statement on Instagram, Gascón explains: “The Brian Warner matter is still under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and has not yet been submitted to our office”.“Please be assured that we are requesting regular updates on the status of the investigation”, he adds.
