An author has penned an adventurous fantasy book in the hope of opening up the dialogue of climate change and encouraging children to help “save our planet”.Colin Carswell, from Maybole, has written ‘The Guardians & The Betrayal of the Forest Queens’ - a children’s book whose main characters take readers on a magical adventure from the Amazon Jungle to Pitlochry in Scotland and delves into the important topic of global warming.Written in the style of Enid Blyton’s Secret Seven meets Alice in Wonderland, Colin’s book seamlessly weaves the magic of fantasy with the pressing need for environmental conservation.Colin, who is passionate about reforestation to help save the planet for future generations, was inspired to write the book after a visit to Pitlochry, where he visited The Enchanted Forest Light Show in Faskally Wood, part of the Tay Forest, which for him was a “magical experience”.The Guardians & The Betrayal of the Forest Queens, whose cover was created by Ayrshire artist Tina Sloan, tells the story of Oliver, age 14, and his little sister Lucy who accompany their parents to Scotland where they are attending a Global Climate Conference.What they don’t know is that when they and their new international friends’ band together to help local girl Isla find her lost dog in the mysterious Faskally Forest, they are going to be drawn into a magical adventure of their own.Join Oliver, Lucy, and their friends as they face an evil tyrant intent on using powerful spells to speed up global warming and transform the entire planet.
