Manchester has one of the lowest life expectancy rates for a newborn male, according to published new data which shows men here can expect to live for just over 75 and a half years.
For females, the city has the third lowest life expectancy in the country, of 79.2 years. The statistics paint a bleak picture of a huge disparity in life expectancy between local communities in the north and the south of the country - branded a 'clear geographical divide' and a 'yawning gap' by experts.
