Most families know the story of Stick Man and his search for the family tree, but there's one little known attraction that many have missed.
Around 90 minutes from Manchester there's a massive woodland featuring a trail based on the much-loved Julia Donaldson character and it's completely free to visit.
The National Memorial Arboretum is in Burton, Staffordshire, and home to the Stick Man Outdoor Trail, which opened in 2019 and is aimed at little ones aged three to seven. Join our FREE Manchester Family WhatsApp group by clicking here Visitors are encouraged to pick up a free copy of the self-led trail from the welcome desk and are encouraged to wear appropriate footwear and clothing as it can get a mid muddy, especially at this time of year, so the route's unsuitable for some pushchairs.
Dogs are allowed on the trail too, as long as they're kept well under control. As you follow the map, you'll encounter information boards offering fun activities for children to complete as they help Stick Man find his way back home to the family tree.
