Young mum's tragic death just weeks after moving into women's refuge

A young mother of three has tragically taken her life just weeks after moving into a women's refuge. Sarah Summers, aged 35, sadly died on April 12, 2023, in a refugee in Cardiff.

Paying tribute, her older sister Rachel Marie said she "touched many people's lives". Rachel told WalesOnline the whole family, including Sarah's three daughters aged 16, 14, and, ten are all devastated by their loss.

Describing Sarah, Rachel said: "She'd faced a lot of adversity for the majority of her life. She went through a lot and as her older sister, I was there to support her whenever I could."She was suffering with different ailments with her physical health but she never stopped thinking positive and thinking about creating a beautiful future for her three daughters that she's left behind."Rachel said that at the time of her death Sarah was looking forward to her future being rehomed with her daughters and continuing to study towards a law degree."Sarah was very witty, very charismatic, and very intelligent, she was striving towards obtaining a law degree because she had a passion for law and Justice," Rachel continued."And she was hoping to do this to help other women in different refugees.

She was extremely creative as well. I know she wanted to set up a little sideline business upcycling furniture. She was really really artistic and creative."And she kept hope within the other women at the refuge from what I have been told from them."Sarah would have turned 36 on May 10 and her family celebrated her birthday by arranging a balloon release.
