Following Phillip Schofield's axe from ITV, soap fans were left wondering who will be hosting the British Soap Awards. It has now been revealed that TV presenter and singer Jane McDonald will be stepping into the former This Morning presenter's shoes, to host the awards ceremony, according to The Sun.

Jane is best known for popular Channel 5 series Cruising With Jane, and previously served on the Loose Women panel. It comes after Phillip was axed from all his ITV shows and commitments after he confessed to an affair with a much younger This Morning colleague, just days after he stepped down from the show.

Following Phillip's axing, ITV confirmed that the ceremony would still be going ahead with the new presenter being announced "in due course." The controversy surrounding Phillip's departure from ITV has only deepened in recent days, with fellow former This Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes took aim at his former employer, accusing the TV network of being involved in a "cover-up." ITV has denied these claims and have revealed that while they investigated the rumours of an affair back in 2020, both parties denied this and they found no evidence beyond "hearsay and rumour." Since Phillip stepped down from This Morning, the show has became embroiled in a toxicity row, after Dr Ranj Singh released a statement claiming that the problems at the show go "far beyond" Phillip.

Taking to social media, Ranj, who now works for the BBC, said: "I was on the show for 10 years and I genuinely loved and valued working there.
