Veteran who ran Lanarkshire ice cream business thanks charity for getting him back on his feet

A veteran who ran an ice-cream van in Motherwell after leaving the armed forces has helped launch a new fundraising campaign by Erskine after the charity helped him to walk again.Currently a resident at the Erskine Home in Bishopton, William Haynes ran the mobile ice-cream business in Lanarkshire after leaving the Army, and also turned his hand to baking wedding cakes.The now 71-year-old left school at the age of 15 and joined the Army at just 17, and served for nine years.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
