Plans to erect two giant digital advertising billboards on one of Kilmarnock's busiest roads have been approved.A pair of traditional paper advertising boards on the corner of Dean Road and Beansburn will be torn down to make way for the new bright screens. The screens will be similar in size to the existing advertising boards - measuring 6 metres wide and 3 metres in height, on a 2 metre high base.

Screens will be 96mm thick.East Ayrshire Council planners that the new signage is of an "appropriate size, scale, design and siting so as to not adversely impact upon visual amenity, or upon road traffic or pedestrian safety."Ayrshire Roads Alliance also offered no objection to the blueprints and there was no objections from any locals or organisations.Conditions have been imposed upon the applicant, Hesham El-Shafei from the firm Hesham El-Shafei Ltd.During daylight hours, the illumination of the screen should not exceed 600 candelas (the equivalent of 600 candles) per square metre - and shouldn't exceed 300 candelas at night time. The rate of change for the digital board is also limited to a minimum of once in every 30 seconds.

Moving images, animation, video and full motion images have been banned from the screens. And the operation of the screen will be limited to between the hours of 8am and 8pm.Planners issued the conditions in relation to residential amenity and road safety.
