dailyrecord.co.ukA pedestrian has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a lorry in Edinburgh this morning. The busy city centre road where the collision took place was cordoned off by police officers as they launched a probe into the incident.
A woman was taken to the New Edinburgh Royal Infirmary in the capital after the incident at around 7.10am on South Groathill Avenue, close to the junction with Queensferry Road South.Emergency services raced to the scene next to Craigleith Retail Park and a Sainsbury's superstore, with an Esso petrol garage at the opposite side of the road.Two police vans and two police cars were spotted at the scene, with a cordon placed round the area blocked off by officers as they carried out their investigation. A post about the incident was published on the Police Scotland Edinburgh Facebook page.It read: "South Groathill Avenue is closed at the junction with Queensferry Road South following a report of a crash involving a lorry and a pedestrian around 7.10am on Wednesday, 17 April, 2024.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area."A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We received a call at 7.07am today to attend an incident on Queensferry Road in Edinburgh.
